If you are looking for something for your kids to do in October half term, then the zombie apocalypse might be the answer.

Young Pathfinders, a youth group based in Burton Road, Ashby, is hosting three different themed adventure days for children of all ages in the upcoming half term holiday.

The three themes for the adventure days are the zombie apocalypse, Harry Potter and the popular battle royale video game, Fortnite.

The first themed adventure day will be zombie apocalypse themed, and will let children learn survival and stealth, as well as battling hoards of ‘infected’.

Kids will also learn how to make a smokeless fire, safely harvest wild edible plants and build invisible shelter.

They will also be taught ‘battlefield’ first aid, and the children will be taught how to find resources to protect the health of their team.

Participants will also learn how to make weapons, such as rifles, pistols and improvised weapons for ‘intensive zombie battle tactics’.

Owner of Pathfinders, Craig Reynolds, said on the website: “The bigger picture here is we’re trying to teach kids how to survive any kind of disaster, with the undertones of zombies.

“The kids learn potential life-saving skills that could be used in any kind of disaster including a zombie apocalypse.”

The zombie apocalypse day is planned for Tuesday October 15, from 9.30am-4.30pm.

It is suitable for children aged between 7 and 14, and costs £25 per child and can be purchased on the Pathfinders website.

The second themed day is inspired by the video game Fortnite, and will give kids the opportunity to play their favourite video game in real life.

This special woodland adventure edition of the game incorporates zombies and a Save the World challenge.

Participants will start off with nothing, and using their video game knowledge will have to find resources to survive, including shield potions, bandages, bullets, weapons and armour.

They will need to build defences, set traps and protect each other.

As in the video game, the kids will be set a number of challenges throughout the day and as the ‘storm bubble closes in, the tension will get more exciting’.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing.

The zombie apocalypse day is planned for Thursday October 17, from 9.30am-4.30pm, tickets can be bought on the Pathfinders website.

This event is for children aged between 7 and 14 years old and costs £25 per child.

The final of the three is the return of an already popular event run by the group, a Harry Potter themed adventure day.

This one involves attending ‘potions classes’, learning ‘fire spells’ and taking on ‘dementors’ in the archery range.

This event takes place on Wednesday October 16 and is for children aged from 5 to 14 years old.

Tickets cost £25 and can be bought on the website.
