The event is due to last for two weeks – until October 6 – during which Fortnite’s iconic Tilted Towers location will be transformed into Gotham City.
There is also be a a special pack of Dark Knight-themed weapons and skins available to buy, with the event coinciding with the character’s 80th anniversary.
But perhaps the most exciting new addition is that of some specially themed challenges, with rewards for completing them including the coveted Catwing Glider.

Most of the tasks are fairly self-explanatory, but one that asks players to defuse Joker’s laughing gas canisters in different named locations could prove a little trickier.
Thankfully, we’ve put together a guide on how to complete the challenge:
What am I looking for?
The canisters of the challenge are a reference to Joker’s Smilex gas, which kills its victims with a laughing fit, and leaves corpses with beaming grins on their faces.
That won’t happen to you in the world of Fortnite fortunately.
The canisters are kitted out in a green and purple paint-job, with a bomb-like timer on top, but you’ll likely hear one before you see it; best way to find one is to listen for the telltale beeping.
Once you’ve found your Joker canister, defusing it is simply a case of interacting with it.
You’ll need to defuse the canisters in three different named locations to complete the challenge, although this doesn’t have to be all in the same match.
And pay attention to the fact the challenge states you need to deactivate them in three “different” locations; if you’ve already diffused one in a particular location, diffusing one there again won’t count towards your progress.
The canisters also aren’t reusable, which means if another player defuses a Joker canister before you, it’s gone for the rest of the match.
Where can I find them on the map?
The canisters don’t spawn at the same locations in each match, which means that while they might appear in a certain location in one round, they might not show up there at all in the next.
There are also quite a few possible locations where they can show up.
That means constructing a map and saying where you might find a canister with any kind of certainty is a difficult task in itself.
But while a map might be out of the question, we can offer some tips on where to look.
You’re going to want to land in a named location (ie, one that actually has a label on the game’s minimap) as fast as possible and then listen out for the beeping.
Get to the canister as quickly as you can, and defuse it; there’s actually a timer on the canisters, and if you don’t defuse them fast enough, they’ll explode with a laughing sound.
