Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3

Everything’s been looking a bit watery in the new season of Fortnite (Picture: Epic Games)

The new season of Fortnite got underway last month, bringing with it an array of treats for fans, including everything from waterskiing with sharks to customisable umbrellas.

There’s even an appearance from Jason Momoa as Aquaman, one of the many new characters to appear in the game as part of the Battle Pass (which of course you’ll have to pay for separately).

But one feature we are still waiting for in the new season is the appearance of cars, which you’ll be able to drive once water levels have fallen enough.

Just when can you expect to see them in the game?

When are cars coming to Fortnite?

The long-awaited cars are expected to arrive in Fortnite on 21 July.

The news was reported on Fortnite Tracker after Twitter account @FortTory said: ‘Cars will be added to the game on July 21 according to a source at Epic Games who contacted @HappyPower.’

Despite no official confirmation from Epic Games this would appear to be accurate as it would allow the requisite time for the water levels in the game to recede.

When the cars do arrive you can expect several different types, each of which will have their own features, as well as strong and weak points.

You can expect to see pickup trucks and sports cars, among others – and you’ll be able to fill them at the various petrol stations you might also have seen dotted around the island recently.

While cars might be coming to the game, Fortnite recently underwent an unexpected change when police vehicles which were already on the island were removed last month.

No official reason was given for their absence, leaving fans to speculate that they were removed in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, which came about following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police.
